European Cruises -
Discover The ”Old World”!

The cruise lines deployed a record number of ships in Europe for 2008 and that means
more choice for the traveller. If your objective is to tour Europe by ship (rather than to go cruising for cruising's sake), you'll need to begin by selecting a region. The busiest cruising
region is the Mediterranean, where most lines have ships operating from spring through fall. The Baltic is another popular area, with many cruises heading east from Scandinavia to St. Petersburg, Russia during the summer months.
You can also book cruises along the western coast of Europe (with port calls at major cities like Amsterdam, Bordeaux, and Lisbon) or the British Isles.
Prices are cheap  for European cruises in the early spring and the late fall. These are great times to travel to Europe for a number of reasons. Europe is a culturally diverse place, and there are festivals in different locations throughout the year.
Traveling in the fall can have you celebrating in festivals like Oktoberfest or watching fireworks and Bonfires during Guy Fawkes Night in England. In the early spring you can participate at the famous Carnivale of Venice, the city’s artful and extravagant Mardi Gras celebration.
If you decide to cruise through Europe’s heartland, you will see the impressive “Old World” with the famous vineyards of France and Germany. You will visit major cities like Frankfurt, and countless smaller villages and towns. Each day you can find yourself in a new part of the continent, with rolling hills or steep mountains. Since you have invested a lot of time and money to go to Europe you will want to select a cruise that offers you lots of ports in many countries.
Go for a 12 to 14 day itinerary visiting countries that interest you. Review the tours offered, so you know which ones you want to book when you arrive at your cruise ship. Usually the cruise ship will stop in a port during the day while traveling to the next port during the night. Occasionally, a ship will stay for a complete night  in a port giving you more time for sightseeing. Because most European cruises are port intensive, opt for late dining, even if you are an early eater. Nothing is more frustrating than rushing back to the ship, struggling up the gangway tired and laden with packages, and not having the luxury to take a pre-dinner napaddressing.
